The 7.62×39mm M1 is the base fixed-stock configuration of the Arsenal JSCo. AR-M1 series is a Bulgarian-produced gas-operated rifle developed as a milled-receiver derivative of the AK platform. Unlike the stamped-receiver construction common to mass-production AK variants, the AR-M1 uses a milled steel receiver – a construction approach that has been a characteristic of Arsenal JSCo.’s production line, which has operated in Bulgaria since 1878.
The rifle fires 7.62×39mm cartridges from standard 30-round AK-pattern magazines, with a 415mm barrel and fixed stock as the family’s reference infantry configuration. The AR-M1 series is documented in service with the Iraqi Armed Forces, the Indian Army and Central Reserve Police Force, and the Nigerian Armed Forces, and is produced domestically for Bulgarian military and security programs. Folding-stock, reduced-barrel, and compact configurations of the same platform are cataloged under Semi-Automatic Rifles.
