5.56 mm Kalashnikov Assault Rifle
The 5.56 mm Kalashikov is a highly effective
automatic weapon designed for the antipersonnel role
at a range of 1000 m in daylight and 600 m during the
night. The system operates on propellant gases
diverted through a vent in the barrel.
The 5.56 mm AKN-74 is a modernized version of the
5.45 mm AKN-74 to comply with NATO standard
cartridges. A plastic butt and an attachment for the
NSPU night sight are provided. The complete set also
includes a knife and scabbard-cutter optionally
assembled as a bayonet.
A 40 mm barrel-mounted Kastyor grenade launcher of 400 m effective range can be fitted to the 5.56 mm
AKN-74. Single and group targets can be destroyed firing bursts at a 550 m range (300 m during the night).
Skilled firers hit targets in the single-shot mode up to 700 m (600 m during the night). The bullet retains its
killing effect over a range of 1500 m. The weapon fires 5.56 mm cartridges (5.56 x 45 mm).
